Dear Doctors of Chiropractic and their patients,

My Chiropractor once told me that he was frustrated because so many of his patients ask his opinion about the type of mattress they should be sleeping on.   He was not sure how to answer the question because he was not aware of the options available, and he didn't want to risk the relationship with his patients by recommending a product that might prove unsatisfactory.

After this conversation, it occurred to me that if Chiropractors are uncertain, consumers must be at least as confused.  After all, they have the task of finding and purchasing a product on which they will spend 1/3 of their life.  During the buying process they are faced with high pressure salespeople who have little, if any, real knowledge of physiology, understanding of  or interest in what comprises the best sleep system for their needs.

We knew there had to be a better way for Chiropractors to provide information and recommendations to patients about effective sleep systems.  This led to an outreach to Doctors of Chiropractic to determine what makes an ideal sleep system and what special support and comfort features mattresses and pillows should possess.

What we found was interesting but not surprising.  Chiropractors we spoke with said a sleep system must “offer proper body support,” “help stabilize patient treatments/adjustments,” “be of reasonable price,” and, “ideally, be exclusively available through the recommendations of Chiropractors.”

To meet these requirements we needed to offer mattresses that provide the support and comfort needed by Chiropractic patients.  Chiropractors wanted an easy system to order mattresses for their patients.  They knew their patients would appreciate pillows and mattresses that are “green process”, cosmetically-pleasing, and manufactured in the USA.  And for their allergy-sensitive patients, they were looking for a way to avoid the chemicals in the fire retardant “sock” every mattress is federally required to include.
